VC of GB v Camberley

20 November 2012

Once more we all enjoyed our annual fixture against the Camberley Club, who are lucky enough to play in the Royal Military Academy courts at Sandhurst.

Both teams had a few last minute changes to our planned line-up, but we still managed a good six-a-side match.

Seumas Kerr, for us, was on fire and had his old school pal, Sam Coulter running like a blue-posteriored fly. A very good start for VC. Lance Kinder is still recovering from a seasonal disorder, but gave the Camberley Chairman, Edward Woods, a good run for his money. John Woodliffe was a bit too strong for his club-mate, Eddie Jamil, but Eddie worked hard and enjoyed his pint afterwards. Andy Hartley had a long and exhausting battle against Steve Johnson and just lost in the fifth. A recent recruit to our Club, Chris Sebire, showed he will be a threat to National O/60 players this season and even more so those O/65 next season; he beat that well-known and very good Irish International, John O’Brien. Our number 1, Chris Ansell, worked very hard against Darren South and gave his all, nearly winning the second, but finally lost in three. A great game to watch, however.

So the VC of GB ended up with a 4 – 2 win.

We then all replayed the match in the Standard over a very good pint and an excellent meal – a good fun evening.
