VC of GB v Camberley

19th November 2013

The annual match between the VC and the Camberley Squash Club took place at the RMA and a right humdinger it turned out to be. The two senior members of the VC were not quite strong enough losing 0/3 and 1/3 respectively against determined players!

Ray Illingworth however, playing at no 3 gave us a boost. It was then a shock to find our No1 Chris Ansell down after the first game but glad to say he came back strongly to beat a determined Geoff Gill.

Match score two all, it all depended on our no 2 Chris Sebire against Andy Stuttard. At two love and eight five to Andy in the third it looked all over. Chris, however, seemed to find strength and determination from somewhere and took the third 10/8. He then gradually took charge with some outstanding play to eventually take the rubber 3/2.

So the VC turned out victorious and quickly led the way to the 'The Standard' for a very good meal and yes, a pint or two!

The results were:

GB Vets   Camberley
Chris Ansell beat Geoff Gill 3/1
Chris Sebire beat Andy Stuttard 3/2
Ray Illingworth beat Graham Thomas 3/1
Lance Kinder lost to Steve Johnson 1/3
John Woodliffe lost to Fergus Mayne 0/3

VC won 3/2
