20th February 2013
It’s always a pleasure for the GB Vets to visit Dorking and we always have a thoroughly enjoyable evening both on and off the squash court – Bob and Harriet Gray see to that!
The evening started with a most exciting titanic exhibition doubles match with John Woodliffe and Lance Kinder scraping home 17/15 in the final game.
Stephen Johnson (stepping in for a poorly Nigel Belle) and David Garrett went down 0/3, whilst Alastair Niven, although managed to win a game lost 1/3.
A match of the highest quality and a delight to watch saw the GB Vets No 1 Alan Thomson go down 0/3 although all close games.
It was left to David Smith to salvage some honour by winning 3/0.
Overall result – Dorking 4 GB Vets 1.
The evening was rounded off with a delicious meal, a ‘few’ drinks, captain John Woodliffe thanking Dorking for their usual superb hospitality and vowing to do better next year!
