VC of GB v Camberley

3rd March 2014

Our annual match took place at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and was, as always, a good contest, in spite of a misunderstanding which meant that the teams were four players instead of the normal five!

It started off with Alan Williamson, a new Vets Club member, playing Graham Jolly. Alan, an ex-triathlete, showed his potential with a strong 3 - 0 win.

Chris Sebire then played Andy Craig; this was a humdinger! Andy played superbly to take a 2 - 0 lead and it looked as if it were all over, but Chris found some extra reserves. He came back to 2 - all, by which time Andy had run out of fuel; 3 - 2 to Chris.

Andy Hartley put up a rear-guard action against Steve Johnson. Steve went up 2 - 0 and Andy came back to win the third, but just could not do the fourth.

John Woodliffe, who has been off for a while with knee problems, seemed to overcome those problems with a good 5 game win over Lawrence Lea.

So the match ended in a 3 - 1 win for the Vets Club and we went off to the Royal Standard to replay the games over a beer or two and a meal.

The match scores were:
