VC of GB v BROMLEY CRICKET CLUB

Doubles 20th November 2015

There are not many purely doubles matches in the GB Vets calendar, but this is one of them and hugely popular it is too.

Each team fielded 4 pairs, each pair played 2 matches, best of 3 games, first to 15, American scoring.

Dave Leach & Andrew Bonner Won 1, Lost 1.
Robert Smith & new member Nick Wise won both their matches.
Nigel Belle & Roger Sulley Won 1, Lost 1.
Mandy Akin unfortunately had to withdraw so ‘stand in’ Fergus played with Karen Hume but lost both matches.

Point scoring was: 1 point per game won + 2 points for a win, so a maximum of 4 points.

So from the results above…..you’ve guessed it, 18 points each!!

A thoroughly fun, enjoyable, competitive match was rounded off with an excellent meal of roast belly of pork + the crackling (not good for false teeth!) followed by chocolate brownies (600 calories per mouthful!) All washed down with various types of liquid , friendly banter, a few ‘thank you’ words from Robert Smith and all vowing to do battle again next year.

Thanks go to Alastair McMeckan (also a GB Vet) for organising the BCC team and superb hospitality and to Karen Hume for managing the GB Vets team.

A great evening was had by all!
