VC of GB v PURLEY

18th March 2016

The GB Vets were looking to overturn a loss of 4/1 in 2015 into a win this year.

We started well with Nick Wise at No. 4 winning 3/0.

However things did not go our way for Adam Rich (new GB Vets member) playing at No.1. A see-saw match of great quality eventually saw Adam succumbing 1/3.

Also Andy Bonner at No.2 found difficulty in finding his rhythm and lost 0/3.

Peter Young at No.3 having played 18 holes of golf earlier in the day, had a great tussle with fellow GB Vet, Fabio Goriup, and managed to triumph 9/4 in the 5th.

So 2/2. But then the GB Vets won 3/2 by default as Nigel Belle’s opponent unfortunately had to cry off at the last minute due to a family illness.

Beer, wine, ham egg and chips and plenty of chitchat followed, which was a great way to finish a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thanks to Fabio for organising.

Full results were as follows:

Purley   GB Vets
Paul Eneas beat Adam Rich 3-1
Peter Tattershaw beat Andy Bonner 3-0
Fabio Goriup lost to Peter Young 2-3
Michelle O'Brien lost to Nick Wise 0-3
- walkover Nigel Belle 0-3

GB Vets won 3-2
