22nd MARCH 2019

This most enjoyable annual match took place on 22nd March at the Ridge, Purley.

We narrowly lost 2/3 last time so the GB Vets were out to reverse that score line.

Fabio Goriup’s son Charlie at No.4 was first up against Adam Rich. Whilst Adam had the experience and shots, Charlie had the speed, recovery and stamina. Match Adam 3/1.

Mandy Akin at No.3 was her usual fit, athletic self and having lost the second game ran out the winner3/1. Ditto Karen Hume, having lost the third 13/15 to Fabio Goriup, a fellow GB Vet, again won 3/1.

Andy Davies at No.2 had a relatively easy ride and won 3/0.

So all looking good so far, 4/0, it was up to No.1 Fergus Burnett to make it a clean sweep. A high quality match with each giving their all – 0/1, 1/1, 1/2, 2/2. Fergus managed to sneak the 5th so 3/2 to him and an overall excellent 5/0 victory for the GB Vets.

Huge thanks to Fabio for organising a great evening.
