VC of GB v Camberley

7th DECEMBER 2011

The first of two matches for the season took place at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst on Wednesday 7th December.

We were one man short as Lance Kinder had been injured in a game the night before.

As always, it was an excellent evening; we played four singles and a doubles and then rushed to ‘The Standard’ for a pint and a bite.

Rob Butler had a long game against Steve Johnson, but lost 1/3; John Woodliffe came back strongly from 1/7 down in the first game to win in 3; Seumas Kerr had his usual spirited match against Sam Coulter – they were at school together – and beat him 3/1 and Chris Ansell had an excellent battle with Andy Stuttard and just pipped him 10/9 in the fifth.

The doubles was also won by the VC team of Seamas Kerr and John Woodliffe playing Andy Craig and Bill Pilley, which meant the Vets’ Club came away with a 4/1 win.

The return match will take place on 21st March 2012.
