The First match on court was Muzza (Andy Murray)
v Dan Haggarty, a really great game to watch, Andy went
2-0 up, playing some fantastic nick shots from
everywhere but Dan gradually clawed his way back into
the match to win 3-2 Maybe the 30 years Andy was giving
Dan took its toll.
Next up was Ray Burke MBE v Graham
Stanford, this was equally a great match, it was nip and
tuck all the way through, some of the rallies lasted
forever, Ray was 7-2 down in the fifth, when he had to
change his racket, he then went on to win 11-9.
Roger More v Rob Pelter was a close
match although he lost 3-0 the score didn't reflect
this.
John Parkes v Ray Batchelder was
another really good match, Ray is a very awkward player
playing reverse angle boast from anywhere, but as the
game went on John's experience began to sus Ray out and
John went on to win 3-1.
Alison Goy v Matt Gibbins, Ali went
2-0 down but once Ali settled down Matt struggled to
keep up. They had some really brutal rallies and it was
another good match to watch, unfortunately Ali lost 9-11
in the fourth.
Rachel Woolford v Ginny Lee, yet
another very close match and considering Rachel hasn't
played for over 18 months because of a knee operation,
she put up a great fight especially as she couldn't move
forward. Rachel might have lost her movement at the
moment but she still hasn't lost the ability to hit the
ball as sweetly as anybody on the squash scene. Rachel
lost 8-11 in the fifth .
Geoff Redfern v Jack Robinson, Geoff
went down 2-0 he did manage to fight back, but lost 9-11
in the fourth.
LEAMINGTON WON 5-2
Pizzas all round after the matches had finished, which
seemed to go down well, and a couple of us had a beer or
two.
I'd like to thank all the above players for playing,
which made the day really enjoyable.
Geoff Redfern, Match Manager
