The event took place at the RAC Woodcote Park at Epsom. This was the second time the VC of GB has organised the gathering; the first time was last year to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our Club. It is hoped it will become an annual fixture and we now have a re-dedicated cup to present to the winning team.

The Clubs taking part last year were Escorts, Jesters, RAC, Army and Vets Club of GB and we had hoped to have the same line-up this year. Sadly however, the Jesters pulled out as they could not raise a team.

The result this year was a win for the Army with 72 points, RAC were second with 51 points, followed by VC of GB with 36 and Escorts with 12.

Those representing the GB Vets over the weekend were: Mandy Akin, Albert Akin, Alan Boulden, Peter Culver, David Esser, David Garrett, Tom Hendry, Steve Johnson, Lance Kinder, Martin Miller, Derek Parkes, Dave Smith, Kevin Teale, Chris Wilson, John Woodliffe and Edward Woods.

To summarise, it was a fun weekend again and I am sure all who took part enjoyed themselves. The courts at Woodcote Park are beautifully maintained and the facilities are superb. We were again privileged to be holding the weekend at such a lovely Club and we were very grateful for the generosity of the RAC who donated the courts and balls.

There were some pointers for another year which the Committee will now consider. Agreed arrangements will be advised in the next Newsletter.

At the end of the tournament Tom Hendry, Chairman of the Vets Club of GB, thanked all the players for taking part in what had been a full and delightful two days. He said he hoped the event would become an annual fixture, but perhaps played over one day with adjusted teams.

He thanked the RAC for their superb hospitality and then presented the Festival Cup to Aubrey Smith, the Army team captain.

He also thanked John and Terry Woodliffe for managing the event.
