Our fixture vs the Hurlingham Club really is one of the best – the setting, the courts, the amenities and the club members hospitality is well…..perfect.The evening’s squash got underway with Kim Ricks and Nigel Belle playing doubles on their doubles court. Playing PARS to 15, all games were hard fought and close, but the hosts came through with a 3/1 win. Both David Parker at No.2 and new GB Vet Mark Ainley at No.4 also had excellent close games but again the hosts came out winners again both 3/1.So not looking good for the GB Vets at this stage being 0/3 down!Mick Murray at No.3 and his opponent opted to play ‘English’ scoring HIHO to 9. Again a much contested close match, which appeared to last forever, but happily Mick ran out a worthy winner 3/2 in the end.Could Ash Chakraborty at No.1 chalk up another win? Unfortunately no such luck. Playing PARS to 11 Ash was up against Hurlingham’s 2nd team No.1 and lost in 3.So a much-deserved 4/1 win to Hurlingham.Following an excellent 2 course meal (with appropriate drinks!) in the Harness Room, a few words of thanks by the Vets Match Manager to the Hurlingham Club and in particular their captain, Rodney Brewis, for a superb evening, we all wended our way home vowing ‘to do better next year!’Full results were as follows:
