Having narrowly lost 2/3 in 2025, new Match Manager, Ash Chakraborty, decided to bring in a number of new members/players with much higher squash levels in the hope of gaining a win.
Always a most enjoyable evening with great, generous hospitality from the RAC, play did not go according to plan, and we failed to win a single match so lost 5/0!

Bryan Francis at No.5 and Dale McCarter at No.2 were on first. Whilst Bryan never really got into his stride and succumbed 3/0, Dale had a right royal battle with some high-quality squash culminating in a nail-biting 5th set which he just lost 11/9.

Keith Winfield at No.4 started well winning the first 11/5 but his opponent was too strong and won the next three 6, 8 and 9.

Brilliant effort by Cheshire players, Matt Uren No.1 and Robbie Blair at No.3 coming all this way to play at the iconic RAC, Pall Mall.
Robbie was up against RAC Match Manager, James Gardner, who proved too strong although he took the second game 12/10.
So it was down to our No.1, on nearly 5000 squash levels, to save a whitewash. Unfortunately for Matt he came up against a youngster half his age and not a grey hair in sight! Some truly high quality squash from both players, the odds were stacked against Matt as his opponent was just too fit and got to every ball.

Licking our wounds we all retired to the Long Bar for a well earned drink and to enjoy the superb hospitality of the RAC. A few words of thanks by Nigel Belle (non-playing acting Match Manager) to James Gardner for organising yet again an excellent evening of squash and presiding over jovial banter and camaraderie. Next year…….
